ABOUT ME

'Forever curious about the smaller, and larger things in life'

Especially those that live in water; it's an entirely different world! Inert matter can be cool if you're into that (shoutout to geologists, rocks are great!), but what truly fascinates me is the sheer number of different forms that LIFE has managed to take on this planet (with the help of geology!)

I became interested in biology from an extremely early age. I began in the garden and by first grade, my science fair project of comparing terrarium-grown green bean types and growth patterns won first place! In third grade, I decided microbiology was a true love of mine after listening to my teacher's daughter speak to us about her microbiology career. Although I went on to earn a degree in Marine Biology, I still intend to further my education in microscopy and microbiology, as those three subject areas are all intertwined. I also have a strong interest in biogeochemistry and what we can learn from the 'living planet'.

During my undergraduate education I found that my areas of most-intense interest were invertebrate zoology, ecology, and then the applied science of aquaculture. The intersection of these subject-areas is where my career has logically ended up, with an aquatic toxicology and specimen culture job first, then saltwater algae culture and invertebrate care. Coincidentally, in both of these positions, the knowledge of invertebrate biology and ecology is crucial to consistent results.

Through my rather unconventional journey, it has become crystal clear to me that I find the almost-microscopic animals (and plants! algae!) to be the most fascinating ones. Given that knowledge, I will be following my instinct to use my specific set of skills and knowledge to help you be more successful in your goals. Welcome to The Myriad!
